Looking for help in your family court proceedings?Bridge The Gap is a free, community-built guide to UK family court, written by litigants and McKenzie Friends, for litigants. Real observations, plain English, and people who can help..
This content reflects observational insights and lived community experiences. It does not constitute legal advice — always consult a qualified professional for your specific circumstances.
The contested financial remedy process is online and increasingly digital, so it feels as though the upload button should be there for everyone. When it is not, people assume they have done something wrong or been locked out.
Making provision for litigants in person to upload documents digitally on the financial remedy portal is a live project (Practice Direction 41H, item 15 on the Family Procedure Rule Committee's Tier 2 list). In July 2026 the Committee agreed the approach in principle and amendments to PD41H were to be presented in November 2026, with practice direction updates promised at that meeting. As of the October 2026 table it is still work in progress, so if there is no upload route open to you, that is expected rather than a fault on your part. File and serve the way your order or your court office tells you to, keep proof of when you sent it, and ask before the deadline rather than on it.
Download the card and post it on Facebook, LinkedIn, or wherever you're active. Every share helps another litigant find this before their hearing.

Bridge The Gap
No upload button yet. That is normal, not your mistake.
I can upload my money documents to the court's online portal, like a solicitor can.
Reality
Not yet. The court is still building the upload route for people representing themselves. Until it is open, send documents the way your court office tells you and keep proof of when you did.
