What People Expect

The passage of time proves the risk has reduced and the court should resume contact.

Court Reality

Time alone does not repair risk. The court needs to see accountability, insight, and genuine change. In Re N (A Child) [2026] EWFC 142 (B), the father waited years but still rejected the findings — so the court kept indirect contact only and made a section 91(14) barring order. Love for your child is not enough. The court needs to see that you understand what went wrong.
