Looking for help in your family court proceedings?Bridge The Gap is a free, community-built guide to UK family court, written by litigants and McKenzie Friends, for litigants. Real observations, plain English, and people who can help.
This content reflects observational insights and lived community experiences. It does not constitute legal advice — always consult a qualified professional for your specific circumstances.
Posting a public thank-you to my McKenzie Friend using my real name is a kind, harmless gesture that supports their business and shows my appreciation.
Family court proceedings are often private and confidential. If you post about your case using your real name on social media, you risk identifying yourself as someone involved in family court — which can breach court reporting restrictions, expose your personal circumstances to the public, and prejudice ongoing proceedings. The risk is to you and your case — not your McKenzie Friend. Court orders can prohibit publishing information that could identify those involved, including children. If you want to show appreciation, do so privately, or keep names and any case details out of it entirely.
This insight was contributed by someone who has been through the family court system. Bridge The Gap is deeply grateful to everyone who shares their experience — your honesty helps bridge the gap for the next person still in it.
Download the card and post it on Facebook, LinkedIn, or wherever you're active. Every share helps another litigant find this before their hearing.
