PD36ZI: Police Notification of Some Non-Molestation Orders Extended to July 2027

Practice Direction Update No.4 of 2026 extends a pilot scheme under which HMCTS can share some Non-Molestation Orders with the police until 13 July 2027.
What has changed
Practice Direction Update No.4 of 2026 makes amendments to existing Practice Direction 36ZI ("PD36ZI").
PD36ZI is a pilot scheme about notifying the police when certain orders are made under Part 4 of the Family Law Act 1996. Non-Molestation Orders are made under that Part.
The key points
- Paragraph 1.4(b) of PD36ZI is amended so that it applies to notifiable orders made in the period ending 13 July 2027.
- Together with the amendment to paragraph 1.2 of PD36ZI made in Practice Direction Update No.3 of 2026, this extends the procedural underpinning for some Non-Molestation Orders to be shared by HMCTS with the police until 13 July 2027.
- The PD36ZI amendment comes into force on 11 July 2026.
What this may mean in practice
This is an observation, not legal advice. Because this is a pilot, it may not apply to every order or every court. If you are applying for, or have been made subject to, a Non-Molestation Order, it may be worth asking the court or a qualified professional whether the scheme applies to your order and what it means for you.
